Eureka verification

Dear MK,

Another letter for you, I'm afraid, but I'm really very excited about this. You may have seen the two comments I left about it on your blog. Just in case you didn't...

I have been experimenting with this for a while. I never have my reading glasses at the computer. They're usually upstairs, in the ripple bag, or just languishing somewhere in denial that they're needed at all. The result being that there is absolutely no chance of any chance that I will ever read the word verification things accurately.

Accidentally then I discovered that if you get the letters right, with the proper case as well, you can type in any two numbers you like, and all will be well. I tried it three times tonight alone on your blog.  You may have noticed! Any two numbers you like. I think it helps if you type them with gusto. The swearing at the screen is probably optional.

Now all I need to do is uncover the break in the fraise trees through the which the Russian merchandisers seem to have infiltrated the forest. And also the two forms. Still looking for the two forms; the two forms and Ang's marbles...

When I looked at the photo I thought this would be a blog post about the coincidental meaningfulness of the word to decipher - "thoneth" didn't mean anything to me, and that made the suspense all the greater.

So - the revelation was of something much more practical! Thanks for the tip, Mags. I will make use of it, I'm sure, because in these verification quizzes it's just as often the numeral as the word that I struggle over. I will struggle no more on that part at least.

That is pretty cool! :) And you got a screen shot of my blog, on your blog!! We must be friends - haha :) I find it fascinating that the numbers really don't matter. Why, then do they put them up there. To frustrate bloggers? To play chicken with the spammers? I'm mystified. I do like the typing with gusto -- I type with gusto when I'm very opinionated :)

I long for the days before word verification.

The word verification is making it so difficult to leave comments, sometimes I try 3-4 times and give up on leaving the comment at all! I hope blogger looks at an alternative.

M.K., I'm pretty sure the numerals are there because they are a different sort of file from the wonky letters, a file that must be hard for spamming programs to even take note of. Sometimes I get so focused on reading the letters that the numerals don't register with me and I get the code wrong because I didn't enter any number at all.

Time stands still
