Second Sunday in Advent: Peace

I went on thinking about kneeling places after last week. This time last year all was perfect peace on a weekend away from it all, literally kneeling at beautiful Nativity scenes. We love santons at Christmas and before the creches there I was struck at how I could as a little teacher kneel with the millers and the shepherds and the mothers and the angels, all bringing themselves and their lives and their roles to the child.

Every year when I set up our creche I arrange the santons to be seen by on-lookers. And every year the suns come along and turn them inward. It's one of our unspoken traditions now, and it makes me glad! However, this year what struck me was that when you might be on your knees anyway, struggling with whatever demon/worry/setback you have, then where better to be on your knees than with other kneeling folk? And there you might find some peace?

I have a knitted nativity set which will be coming out of the loft very shortly! Love it.

I love my santons too...but mine are all of very disparate sizes: we have a tiny Mexican creche, and the santon animals tower over the people! There is one earless donke which, in real terms, would be the size of a house to the Infant Christ! Never mind! It's a tradition, isn't it!?

I love the idea of them all being turned round as one of your traditions!

I was in a church the other day that had lovely little cross stitched kneeling cushions, wish I had taken a picture! Kneeling is easy enough to do and very humbling, think I could do it more often.
lunee is my verification word!

Exactly!
I can't find my little Nativity figures. I remember putting them somewhere and thinking, "I hope I remember this." Forgot.
Still thinking about kneeling. Thank you, friend.

We have a beautiful nativity that we were given for a wedding gift--wasn't that a thoughtful idea? I spend a lot of time positioning the animals so they look perfectly natural.

What are santons?

I am amazed that we have been incredibly busy this past week, yet there is a deep sense of peace. I do believe that the Lord offers gifts to US as we celebrate HIS birth. I love your sentiment today~

All of us together, kneeling before the King, receiving His peace. I like your tradition.

My children do the exact same thing. Reading your post though, I am glad that they do.

Blessings!
