Solo Summer Surviving: Day 14

Chores. It's my latest discovery. In Cornwall Jo took on the burden of keeping the beach from the door.
And admittedly last year the strawberries became frighteningly adept at racing for the washing at the first hint of rain!
So we are full steam ahead for a summer of child labour. Gone are the lists of interesting and stimulating things to do- this year we are setting and clearing and tidying and chopping and drying. Oh yes. It's all good.

Then this morning I also discovered that if I let them plug into whatsoever they desire I can do some chores too! Win win situation. And I can go out to Hookery tonight with slightly less guilt than usual!

I'm placing an ad in the local paper as we speak...
"Two children required for household duties'.

Look at your kiddoes go!! Way to do it, Mags :) I think they're having fun.

Household duties -- yes! I think that we forget that children like to be *needed.* Makes them feel more grown up. There's always work to do...like washing the car, and it's fun too.

Oh, have fun at Hookery! Chores are so good for kids. My mother made us lists that greeted us every summer morning. I hated it, but I DO know how to do chores now. I should have made our kids wash dishes and do laundry. They are now grownups who like to reminisce about the days when they had the sweet and lovely Mommy Maid. The Strawberries' wives will thank you, I'm sure!

I have failed miserably this summer. I had planned on making the boys do ALL the chores, but I didn't have the stamina to make them. They have kept up with their usual chores, which they do without too much complaint. Good for you for putting the Berries to work!

Well said Pom Pom! I'm very glad about the fingers Mags..doesn't look like too much whining & moaning going on either which makes it all so much more possible. I don't know...these rainy, short winter days of ours just seem to slip through my fingers right now & I don't even have any strawberries (& the such like) around to blame the dilly dallying on. I like the look of your hookery group..cosy & convivial & clearly productive too. I will work on my jam jar cover pattern a little more & give you a whistle if I get stuck eh...thanks so much for the offer & the loveliest chat : ) Much love friendly one. CAtherine x0x0x0x
