I want to have a bright and light-filled entry to Autumn like the one that Mise has chronicled! But it continues cold and grey and damp in the frozen North! I don't actually want an entry to Autumn at all just yet- for the last two years at just this time we are on Portstewart Strand for the summer's last swim and a bit of wistful looking ahead to the suns' next school year!

Instead we have been coaxing less ill little strawberries out into fresh air, and tramping through the glistening grass below the High Tower just across the way. So it would seem that it's conkers instead of vast sand stretches and dusky clouds this year round! Back to replenishing pencil cases, then!

I'm not really ready for entry to fall either! Give me a few more weeks of sun and warmth!

Sorry, that the weather is yucky. . .

Yes the mornings are feeling very autumnal and with one week of school holiday left it's time to get uniforms and bags dusted and ready - pencil cases too - glad you reminded me!

I so love conkers - all polished and shiny in a bowl. And mugs full of pens and pencils sitting on the table waiting hopefully for someone to grab them and draw a picture of write a special note...

Leicester schools start TOMORROW with a teacher day [for those who have fulltime contracts that is!]

As you know, I eagerly await fall and sniff it out wherever I can ... but then I've spent a summer living with many days over a hundred degrees. So forgive me. And enjoy the small of freshly sharpened pencils. Divine!

See, you posted conkers - that's a sure sign that you are mentally getting ready for autumn despite yourself (blogging has that effect) and will soon be willing to let summer go. Are the pencil-cases beautifully crafted homemade ones, and if not, why not? (Mine aren't either.)

I hope the little strawberries will be right as rain soon.

Time stands still

Hello! Sending you all lots of love from Northern Ireland, where nothing much changes just as everything changes, as usual. Time has stood ...
