One year old this month!

Our Book Club has been meeting for a year! So well done, us! And well done and enormous thanks to Lorraine who hosts and holds us all together! And well done to my Library boss, Heather-

- for being this month's model. Seen here most appropriately in white coat to take us all away. The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox- great discussion material and great read. Not overly obvious in food inspiration, so thankfully Niqi produced The Book Club Birthday Cake. And what a cake! How many have you read- or eaten??

The cake is fantastic!
I am not so au courant, and of your library have only read 84 Charing Cross Road.
And I am envious, nostalgic for my book club that is a thing of the past. (sigh)
Did you pick a philosopher to read in 2011?
I'm starting to wonder if me being a real reader is also a thing of the past. My proposed fling with Kierkegaard was just one of the projects that never materialized, and the TBR list only grows longer!

GJ- I am with you on so many counts! Desperately want to finish reading of Kierkegaard, so have not yet chosen philosopher of 2011. Am meeting soon with an atheist/utilitarian friend to discuss Soren- he has promised to read up on him just so I can have someone with whom to question! You are definitely a real reader! A reader who lives what she reads!

Fabulous cake. I have digested just one third of it so far!

I could eat a whole book of the book cake! I just read an excerpt of The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox on Amazon. I looks like a book I would enjoy. I must get a copy from the library. :-)

Wow, what a cake! Do I get a slice for every book I've read? May I propose John Carey's 'The Intellectuals and the Masses' for the bookclub? I still smile when I recall it and its pervasive mild humour of truth.

I love the cake! What a good list of reads. My book group has been meeting for almost nine years, but no one has made a cake yet. Is something wrong with us? Maybe. It might just be.
